Gwyn Shumar, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Gwyn Shumar is a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) with a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from La Salle University. She is certified in Prolonged Exposure (PE) and has training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). She has experience working in community mental health and with clients who have experienced many different challenges, such as trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, and relationship difficulties. Her specialties include LGBTQIA+, teens, and anxiety. Gwyn believes that at the core of therapy is the therapeutic relationship, so her work with clients centers around relational work. She uses an integrative approach and may use several modalities, including family systems, experiential, relational, and cognitive behavioral. Gwyn believes her clients are the experts in their own lives and encourages authenticity in therapy through humor, warmth, and unconditional acceptance.
